Oregon Chapter to Welcome Five New Designees

The Oregon Chapter of CPCU will welcome five new designee members following their conferment at the Denver Annual Meetings in August.  This month we'll post background information of two of the five, J.P. Agnesse and Mark Wilson.  Welcome to the chapter!

J.P. Agnesse

J.P. is a Senior Risk Analyst with Portland General Electric Co. where he currently helps manage PGE’s corporate insurance and self-insurance programs.  He is also responsible for reviewing contractual agreements to determine appropriate insurance requirements and evaluate indemnification provisions.  Prior to PGE, J.P. spent 8 years on the broker side working for J.B.L.& K Risk Services and Sedgwick/Marsh on middle market and risk management accounts.

Mark Wilson

A graduate of Trinity University, Mark began his insurance career working for a Fortune 100 insurance company. Transitioning to an independent agency, he became a commercial lines account executive prior to joining Insurance Partners in 2005. Since joining Insurance Partners, Mark has taken on increased responsibilities and is involved in all aspects of agency operations. For Mark, the favorite part of his job is working with a variety of companies to incorporate insurance into the complete business model.  Mark is licensed Property & Casualty agent and Surplus Line agent. In addition, Mark has earned the prestigious CPCU designation. With his free time, Mark enjoys a great assortment of outdoor activities.

Other 2009 New Designees include Mark Goldberg, Liberty Northwest Insurance; Melissa Meeks, Nationwide Insurance and David C. Olson, Farmers Insurance.

Interested in Becoming a CPCU Champion?

A CPCU Champion assists the Society and the Oregon chapter in connecting with their company.  It is an "open-ended" role that can include developing contacts within your company's HR department, assisting CPCU candidates or just generally supporting the Society and the chapter throughout your local office framework.  A good outline on the Champions' role including a link to a Champion's FAQ can be found HERE on the Society's web site.

Current chapter Champions include Frank Alegria (Allstate), Ann Lyon (Builders Insurance Service), Maureen Farran (Crawford), Chuck Nagan (Liberty Northwest), Suzanne Cantwell (Marsh), Diana Van Horn (Unigard) and Dale Lindstrom (Vestas America Corporation).

If you are interested in serving the chapter as a Champion, please contact chapter president, Maureen Farran for additional information.

CPCU Society Webinars: Convenient, Cost-Effective Training

The CPCU Society currently has a number of informative Educational Webinars planned over the coming weeks.  Webinars are economical and convenient.... you only have to travel as far as your computer.  Taught by industry experts, the targeted Webinars provide knowledge to elevate your skill level and drive performance.  Be sure to check out the list of upcoming seminars HERE.

Oregon Webmasters Assist Spokane Chapter

Oregon chapter webmasters Bill Ruttledge and Linda Rooke have been assisting the Spokane chapter with their website development in a series of conference calls with Lisa Wren, Vice President of the Spokane chapter.  Oregon chapter President-Elect Peter Schmidt learned of Lisa's need for assistance at the recent Arizona Leadership conference and volunteered some solid Oregon-based talent.  So far Bill & Linda have covered some of the basics of editing and adding new content development, the chapter calendar function, adding images, etc.  "We're pretty confident a few more hour long sessions will do it for Lisa and then she will be able to fly on her own" reports Bill.

CPCU members are able to view any chapter's website by logging on to www.cpcusociety.org and clicking the "Chapters" tab near the upper left.  Passwords are not required for this function.  If you have a chance, check to see how the Spokane chapter is doing from time to time.
